Mr. Y.A. Jayathilaka, the Deputy General Manager (Products and Banking Development) at Bank of Ceylon (BOC), is a distinguished banking professional with over 27 years of extensive experience in the banking sector. Since joining BOC in 1997, he has excelled in various capacities, including Retail banking, Treasury operations, Product and Process Development and Projects Management, both locally and internationally. His career trajectory within BOC highlights his dedication and expertise, holding held key management positions such as Assistant General Manager (Products Development & Business Process Re-Engineering), Assistant General Manager (Central Province), Deputy General Manager (Support Services), Deputy General Manager (Recovery -Provinces), Deputy General Manager (Development Banking and Branch Credit Operations), and Deputy General Manager (Products and Banking Development).

Mr. Jayathilaka has been a key figure in the BOC’s digital transformation journey. His leadership has driven the implementation of major IT projects at both BOC Sri Lanka and BOC UK Ltd. Throughout his career, he has been a driving force behind numerous innovative initiatives to the Sri Lankan banking industry, particularly in digital banking and providing financial inclusivity. His strategic vision has modernized the Bank’s operations, enhanced customer experience, and fostered a culture of innovation. He has introduced several pioneering banking solutions, including Mobile Branches (Branch on Wheels), Digital Branches (BOC DIGI), Agent banking (BOC Connect), BOC e-Learning , e-passbook (Smart Passbook), Smart FD, e-statements, TV BOC , BOC Bankpedia, Apply Online via website, and various self-banking kiosks.

Mr. Jayathilaka holds a B.Sc. (Special) in Business Administration from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, a Master of Business (Finance) from the University of Kelaniya, and Diploma in Banking & Finance. He is an Associate of the Institute of Bankers of Sri Lanka and has completed the Advanced Course in Strategic Management at the Postgraduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

Beyond his role at BOC, Mr. Jayathilaka serves as a Director on the boards of several prominent organizations, including Property Development PLC, Hotels Colombo (1963) Limited, Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka, Property Development Management Limited, and Ceybank Holiday Homes (Pvt) Limited.
